What are Protect and Protect+ and who can subscribe?
Protect and Protect+ are our insurance solutions that cover your smartphone worldwide, with fast and reliable support when you need it most.
They can be added when ordering a new smartphone, or within 6 months of purchase, provided that it was purchased from Salt and is in like-new condition (iPhone or Android Smartphone).
Which devices are covered?
Protect and Protect+ cover the smartphone purchased with your Salt mobile subscription, whether it’s an iPhone or an Android smartphone.
What is the difference between Protect and Protect+?
Both plans cover accidental damage, liquid damage, and fraudulent use. Coverage depends on your device:
For iPhone:
Protect already includes battery replacement (below 80%) and coverage for technical defects after warranty.Protect+ also includes theft.
For Android smartphones:
Protect covers essential risks.Protect+ also includes theft, battery replacement (below 80%), and extended warranty (up to 5 years).
How do I get support or report a claim?
You have up to 5 days to report your claim after the incident.
For Android smartphones, as well as iPhones covered by a previous Salt Care insurance

Do I have to pay a deductible?
Yes. A fixed deductible applies depending on the type of damage:
- Display damage: CHF 29.–
- Other damage: CHF 99.–
- Theft: CHF 129.–
If both the display and the back cover are damaged, the deductible is applied twice (i.e., CHF 58.-)
No deductible applies for battery replacement.

What are the contract terms?
Protect and Protect+ have a minimum term of 24 months. You can cancel your subscription within 31 days of activation.
After the minimum term, you can cancel at any time with a 2-month notice period.
Does my insurance still apply if I change my device?
Your insurance covers the smartphone purchased with your Protect or Protect+ subscription.
If you later purchase a new smartphone with your Salt subscription and keep your Protect or Protect+ insurance, your coverage will automatically transfer to the new device, replacing the previously insured one.
What if I have an older Salt Care insurance (before 27.04.2026)?
If your contract was signed before 27 April 2026, please use the same claim portal: https://www.caresupport.ch/#/
